History

In the year 1987 on September 29th  the 'Finland Trade Club' was founded at the initiative of the Embassy of Finland in The Hague. At its constitutive meeting, a total of 85 Dutch and Finnish business executives were present. Shortly after this meeting the number of members had already expanded to more than 100. During the nineties the organizations name was appropriately changed into 'Finnish Dutch Trade Guild'.

Over the years, many meetings, events and gatherings were initiated. Prominent speakers from business, science and politics were our guests, like for example Mr. Sauli Niinistö, nowadays the Speaker of the Finnish Parliament. The Guild also organized a large number of excursions to different companies and organizations like: Schiphol Airport, Nokia and Europol etcetera. And golf tournaments and the traditional  FDTG Herring party proofed to offer nice network possibilities.

Also for the more social events the Guild built up a nice track record. Independence Day dinner dances with the Finnair Big Band and artists like Linda Lampenius were impressive just like the celebration of the Guild's 20th anniversary with the famous singer Katri Helena.
